Project Tiger
A large counter, 3D-printed in London from Denuo hemp granulate made in our Italian workshop.
About this project
The brief was a single large piece of interior furniture: a counter, one continuous form, too big to mould and too specific to buy.
The material is Denuo in hemp — bioplastic granulate blended with hemp remnants, produced at our workshop in Italy. It travelled to London as granulate rather than as a finished object: a few sacks of raw material instead of a crate of air. There a specialist printer built the counter on a large-format machine, layer by layer. Our material partner in the UK brought the three sides together.
Printing gives the piece a surface no mould could: the print lines follow its geometry, and the hemp shows through as a fine speckle that shifts with the light. Because the material is laid down only where it is needed, very little is left over at the end.
