Hemp

One of the oldest crops on earth — its overlooked by-products pressed into a marble-like surface.

About this material

Hemp is one of the oldest cultivated plants on earth, thriving without pesticides or heavy irrigation and giving more back to the soil than it takes. Yet once the prized fibre is removed, the leaves and stalk left behind are usually treated as waste.

Highsociety Studio sees a resource where others see a residue. Instead of shredding these by-products for low-value uses, we press them into a durable material — locking their carbon and character into objects made to last, not to be thrown away. Composting would be the easy answer; keeping the material in use is the better one.

The result is a sleek, marble-like surface with a warm, earthy depth — as natural as the plant it comes from.
