Each Highsociety Studio product is shaped through a precise manufacturing process that transforms agricultural raw materials into durable, beautiful objects. Explore the techniques behind our products.
Injection molding lets Highsociety Studio turn its bio-based granulates into precise, repeatable forms. Agricultural raw materials — hemp, tobacco, wine marc — are combined with a bio-based binder and shaped into luminaire components and design objects.
The appeal is efficiency: material is metered exactly and offcuts stay minimal. The mold gives each part its shape, so the material is formed rather than cut to size. What is left over is shredded and added back to the material.
The result is durable, dimensionally precise parts that keep the character of their agricultural origin — engineered for series production without leaving the studio's low-waste principles behind.
Compression molding is where Highsociety Studio's raw residues take shape. Agricultural by-products are dried and milled to a fine powder, blended with a bio-based binder, then pressed under heat into flat or curved panels.
The presses run at low temperatures and on renewable energy, and every panel is sealed with a natural wax rather than a synthetic coating. Because the fibres compress unpredictably, no two surfaces are ever quite alike.
Ideal for the Fanocel cellulose-acetate range and granulate tiles, the process keeps the natural texture and colour variations of the raw material — low-impact making, without giving up a refined result.
Our Denuo granulate can be extruded directly in fused-granulate 3D printing — no filament step needed. This makes small series, one-offs and complex geometries possible with the same agricultural raw materials that power our luminaires: hemp, tobacco or wine pomace bound in PLA.
Printed parts keep the warm, speckled surface of the source material. Because a part grows layer by layer, material is added where the part needs it, rather than cut away from a block.
